Karin led them down a dark alley and onto another street before Jack declined the request for a second team. About this time, Karin realized that she was going the wrong way and made a turn east toward the harbor. She was a good block ahead of them and she turned into a small alley just before the wharf, and hid behind a dumpster.
Jack and Gwen ran right past the alley and went further down the street until they reached the wharf. It was then they stopped.
“Shit, shit, shit!” Jack shouted.
“We’ve lost her, Jack,” Gwen said, gasping and bent over, “God, I am getting too old for this.”
Just then the car came pulling up, a brand new Range Rover, even better than the old one.
“Need a lift?” Aaron Westmoreland, the arms inspector asked from the driver’s seat.
Jack looked at him with a very surprised look. “If you insist…”
“Jack, come on, I will be soaking by the time you realize that wasn’t sexual innuendo…” Gwen snipped as she walked around to the passenger side of the vehicle. It had gone from a fine mist to a pouring rain.
“Okay…” Aaron looked ahead with a very shocked look on his face, that wasn’t the first time Jack did that to him, but it still put him off every time it happened.
Jack took the open seat behind Gwen, very disappointed that Anna had taken the one behind Aaron. Since Aaron had been transferred from Quantico, Jack had taken a liking to him… in more ways than one. But Jack knew that Aaron was straight, very much so, if not slightly homophobic. He liked how dorky Aaron was, the fact that he only shaved when it got too be too much for him, and how innocent he acted. Jack somehow knew that for being 24, Aaron was still a virgin… and had a strange affinity for duct tape.
Once Princess Kara and her band reached the Border of Avalon, they were stopped by Sir Leon and Sir Percival, who rode out ahead of them to tell King Arthur of her arrival. The Princess knew that in the time that the King had been in power, he had taken a blacksmith’s daughter to be his queen, her name was Guinevere, and that he sought to change Avalon.
That was why she was coming to see him, he was a much different king than his father Uther was, and that intrigued her. Her father was out of his mind, and her mother was dead, so she was in power for the most part, though she wouldn’t officially be Queen until her father passed. Princess Kara was coming to learn from the boy king. What had his done to improve his land so far? What was his vision for Camelot and for Avalon?
